Biggest European Dinosaur Discovered

Bookmark and Share

The massive skeleton of a new sauropod (long-neck) dinosaur has recently been examined by researchers. The scientists found the bones in Spain and say it is the largest dinosaur of any kind found in Europe.

Similar in size and anatomy to other large dinosaurs like Apatosaurus (formerly called Brontosaurus), the new dinosaur, "Turiasaurus," exhibits unique features that suggest it belonged to a more primitive lineage.

This finding suggests that there was a peak possible size for dinosaurs as we now understand several different groups of dinosaurs reached a similar maximum size.
